Job Title:                             General Ledger - Account Receivable Accountant

Classification:                    Non-Exempt

The highly-detailed, self-starter individual is responsible for the receipt, credit control, and collection and accounting of funds being paid to the organization. This individual will also perform general ledger functions including preparing and posting journal entries and performing account reconciliations. He/She also serves as an auditor, ensuring that invoices are accurate and that proper accounting procedures are followed to account for the receipt of payment for goods and services completed by the organization.

Accounts Receivable Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Match payments to invoices and post invoices.
  • Process credit card transactions.
  • Execute daily collection calls.
  • Prepare and maintain various reports including monthly commissions.
  • Make appropriate adjustments to accounts as necessary.
  • Identify and resolve payment discrepancies.
  • Distribute invoices to customers.
  • Make collection calls on delinquent accounts and maintain positive relationships with customers
  • Process invoice and credit memos.
  • Manage account receivable process
  • Reconcile A/R subsidiary ledgers weekly.
  • Knowledgeable with general accounting principles Oversees accounts receivable write-offs and payment reversals.
  • Develops automated spreadsheets where appropriate.
  • Provides monthly financial and management reports.
  • Assists in financial management and analysis, as requested.

General Ledger Duties

  • Reconcile and balance assigned accounts.
  • Collate and analyze account data and generate financial reports.
  • Comply with relevant reporting requirements.
  • Assist with budget preparation.
  • Assist with audits.
  • Prepare journal entries and assist in month end closing.

Other duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, by company policy and accepted accounting practices.
  • Continuously improve accounting process and procedures and utilization of ERP system.
  • Provide backup support to positions in department.
  • Assist with other projects as needed.

 Education and Experience:

  • Associate in Accounting; 4-year degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in accounting or related field.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly sedentary. The position requires frequent use of a computer, typing, telephone, sitting, and on occasion required to lift up to 25lbs.
